Laundry

So, I am now at the point in my life where doing laundry is a major accomplishment. As in, "I did three loads of laundry today. So there, all you full-time working moms who shuttle three kids around to ball games after work and do laundry in the middle of the night when your family is asleep."

I have only two things to say about this:
1) How do you do it? and
2) Do you have any tips/pointers for washing car seat covers and high chair straps? because mine are looking grungy and the thought of washing them is a little overwhelming.

Elisa, I hesitated to comment because after all, I am the mother-in-law, but our relationship is such that I know you'll take my suggestions for what they are worth and then make a thoughtful
decision on how to best manage your own household, in which, by the way, you are doing a wonderful job.
I am so proud that Matt found you and that you are part of our family!

Laundry has never been my favorite household chore. Believe me, I have been there and still am in your shoes! I have found over
the almost 28 years of marriage with one child STILL at home that
it helps me to do smaller, more manageable loads about every other day. That way laundry doesn't overwhelm me when I see that I can
get it washed and hung or folded all
in one morning or afternoon. I remember a conversation I had years ago with a friend and fellow mother in which she found it incredible that I did laundry so often. She, on the other hand, with three kids and a husband, only did it once a week!!
Well, to each his own, except that our family would probably run out of clean clothes if I waited that long, not to mention the fact that I would be so turned off by the gigantic piles that I'd probably just keep ignoring it, or dig out just what I needed and wash a small load anyway!! Why not do those small loads in the first place before it becomes like that scary
monster laundry ball in that commercial?!! (LOL) Seriously, though,
I feel your pain, I really do. I have never talked to anyone that likes laundry (except maybe my friend Stephanie who actually ENJOYS ironing!!) I just keep thinking that some day, SOME DAY, I'll only have to wash for two!!
